Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for CAAFINET Members

CAAFINET recently organized a transformative Basic Life Support (BLS) training session at Hotel Jowhara, Somalia, in collaboration with the Private Sector Partnership in Health (PSPH) and expert trainers from the Somali Medical Association (SMA). This impactful session aimed to strengthen the life-saving skills of healthcare providers, ensuring they are equipped to deliver critical care in emergency situations.
The training program took a practical, hands-on approach, focusing on equipping participants with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to life-threatening medical emergencies. Core topics covered included high-quality chest compressions, ventilation techniques, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs). Additionally, participants learned essential techniques for managing choking incidents and performing CPR on adults, children, and infants.
What set this session apart was its emphasis on active participation. Attendees engaged in practical exercises under the guidance of experienced trainers, ensuring they could apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Comprehensive materials and reference guides provided further support, fostering a deeper understanding of critical emergency response practices.

The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees expressed how the training had enhanced their confidence and professional competencies. The session also fostered collaboration and teamwork among participants, strengthening their ability to perform under pressure and in coordination with others.
CAAFINET extends its sincere gratitude to PSPH and the Somali Medical Association for their invaluable contributions to the success of this training. By investing in the capacity development of healthcare providers, CAAFINET reaffirms its commitment to improving emergency response capabilities and ensuring better health outcomes for communities across Somalia.
This training session marks a critical step in CAAFINET’s mission to empower healthcare providers with the skills needed to make a difference. As we move forward, we remain committed to fostering a culture of excellence in healthcare delivery and building resilient healthcare systems for a healthier Somalia.
